The encaustic mixed media, collage and the altered book are the perfect ‘vessels’ for my artwork.  The book unfolds stories; they contain depth, intrigue and the unknown.  The encaustic, mixed media and collage are luscious, vibrant, colourful, as well as, multilayered.  The luminosity of encaustic reveals subtleties, yet also allows for the burying of elements, much like our life experiences.  These art forms provide an ideal setting for the stories that unfold in my creations because of their multilayered qualities.

My artwork explores narratives and contemplation about our human life experiences and the spiritual aspects of life, feminist politics and cultural concepts.  The process and practice of visually creating allows me to delve into the mystic, experience intrigue, find solace, comfort and connection within our day-to-day human experiences.

I am often left with a deep gratitude for the opportunity to create and share my work publically.  Though this practice can be private, it is also a gift to be able to share it with others, as it is in community with others, that another’s point of view about the work enriches and deepens the process.
